Passport Headquarters

An effort of the Treasure House Children’s Ministry to keep your child secure and safe.

Think about checking in on a ship, everyone must be accounted for.  Anytime you enter or leave the ship you must be accounted for—the same is true for Treasure House.

When you bring your child to Treasure House we want you to feel that your child is in the best possible place other than your loving arms.  Our goal is help your child learn and grow closer to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  One of the ways that we accomplish this goal is to make sure that your child is accounted for at all times.  Passport Headquarters allows us to check your child into the adventures of Treasure House, leading each child to their proper destination and then bringing them back to your loving arms.

How does Passport Work?

 Who needs a passport?

Anyone entering the adventures of Treasure House:  kids, parents, F.L.A.K.E.S (directors, teachers, leaders and volunteers)

What is the procedure for Passport Headquarters?

Check In:  Every kid entering Treasure House will stop at the Passport Headquarters with an adult 18 years of age or older.   If they are in the Nursery or Preschool Ministry they will enter at the Preschool Ministry Headquarters.  If they are in the Elementary Ministry they will enter at the Elementary Ministry Headquarters.  A Chief Attendant will greet the enrolled family, scan their barcode passport, the child will go to their folder to retrieve their passport lanyard.   A  Destination Guide will be available to show the child which adventure to enter.  Parents of kids 3 years of age and under will walk their child after check in to their class and then exit.

We love new friends. All first time friends will be greeted at Headquarters.  The new parent/guardian will be asked to complete a New Friend Information Sheet.    Our new friend will be given, a temporary passport lanyard, the parent a temporary passport and then our new friend will be shown to their adventure

Parents are welcome in the ministry at any time.  However, the parent must have a passport.  No one will be allowed in the adventure area of Treasure House without a passport.  This allows us to keep up with everyone on our ‘ship’.

Check-Out: As the services conclude, parents/guardians will return to the Passport Headquarters where they checked their child in.  The parent will give the Chief Attendant their passport; and call for the child over the intercom.  The child will file their   passport lanyard back in their folder and exit Treasure House with their parent/guardian.

The Preschool child (age 3 through Kindergarten) will meet with their parent at the EXIT door of the Preschool Ministry.  Birth through age 2, the parents will go pick up their child at the class room.

The Elementary child will meet their parent in the Library Hallway.  Parents are encouraged to pick up their child and clear the hallway—this helps with congestion in this area.

What happens if I lose my passport?

We keep your passport at the Headquarters when not in use.  However, if a child loses their passport we simply replace it, but the parent has to pay for the lanyard which is $3.  If a parent/guardian loses their passport  please be prepared for an extended check out time.  You will need to show a picture identification and pay a $5 replacement fee.

My child rides the Church Van—what do I do?

All kids riding the Church Van will be dismissed to the Van Driver.  Kids desiring to walk home will need to bring a consenting notarized statement from the parent /guardian, otherwise they ride the Church Van.

I like for my older teen to pick up my child, is this OK?

No.  Parents/Guardians only,  No one under the age of 18 will be allowed to pick up a child.

What time can I check in/out my child?

Passport headquarters will open 15 minutes prior to the start of each Treasure House Adventure.  Dismissal will be at the end of each service until the last child is gone.  We ask that parent/guardian come as quickly as possible to check out their child so that our volunteers can leave in a timely manner.  We ask that you do not check in/out kids during the middle of services.  This interrupts our valuable Bible teaching time.

I have a child in the Preschool and Elementary Ministry—can I check them in together?

Yes.  You simply check in all kids at the Preschool Headquarters, reminding your Elementary child to pick up their passport lanyard from their folder.   Check out will require you to go to each destination.  We call kids through an intercom system and each ministry can only be heard in their assigned destination.  We suggest you pick up your Elementary child, then your Preschool child.

 Emergency Evacuation:

Every few months we will practice a full scale Evacuation Drill so that in the event of a real emergency we will be prepared to remove your child from harm and to a safe place.  I know that in an emergency, your first impulse is to get your child.  However, we ask that you resist the impulse.  Through the efforts of Passport Headquarters, every child in the ministry is accounted for.  That is why we stress proper check in/out procedures.  We have a planned evacuation route and as soon as it is safe, we will return your child to you safe and sound.
