What is AWANA?

A ministry branch of Treasure House Children’s Ministry that aids children in hiding God’s Word in their hearts.  Kids will work through the nationally known program: AWANA, to gain Biblical knowledge through Scripture memorization, Bible lessons, games and fellowship.

What ages does AWANA include?

We have four groups.  Puggles is for 2 year olds.  Our Cubbies are for kids who will start school within the next two years.  Basically age 3 1/2 —Pre-Kindergarten.  Sparks is for kids Kindergarten through 2nd Grade.  T&T is for kids grade 3-5.  We also have a place for our students (grade 6-12) to serve as Leaders in Training.  (LIT).

What is the incentive?

As kids gain Scripture knowledge by reciting verses, and passing sections in their workbooks they will be awarded special pins, badges and patches.

Is it just about learning Scripture?

Although Scripture memorization is our main focus, we believe that God’s Word is alive and fun.  During Game Time we do competitive, high energy games.  The kids love it!!

Several times throughout our season we will have special focus nights such as Crazy Hair Night, Super Bon-Fire, Backwards and others just to name a few.  Check out our calendar for a complete listing.

When does AWANA meet?

Sunday evenings from 5:30PM to 6:30PM  Beginning August 2010 we will meet on Wednesday evenings 6-7PM.

Where does AWANA meet?

Kids check in/out at Passport Headquarters at the entrance of Treasure House in the Education wing of the Church.

Any special equipment needed?

Yes, an NIV version Bible.    Each kid also needs a bag of some type to carry their stuff in.  This can be a small backpack or we have available for order several different types for a minimum charge.

What does it cost?

A small fee covers your child for one semester.   This fee will provide a handbook, and awards for your child.  Obviously this fee will not cover the entire cost however, we have a strong desire to hide God’s Word in the hearts of kids so as a Church we help to financially support this ministry.

Occasionally there may be a special mission focus offering and there may be a small fee for t-shirts and stuff if your child participates in the Spark-a-Rama, T&T Games, and Bible Quiz.
